I would be careful when deleting the Flexnet and the ADLM folders:

FLEXNET: This folder has the Standalone licensing information. You may also see Adobe registration files here.

ADLM: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/What-is-the-Productinformation-pit-file-amp/m-p/2917022/highlight/true#M30078

More tips and tricks can be found here: http://upandready.typepad.com/

Hey Becca,

I've checked out your AU class. You do a better job than me! Very helpful indeed. Thanks for commenting.

More info on sloping framing from my AUv2010 class here: http://au.autodesk.com/?nd=class&session_id=6730 basically the same two methods but more in depth on how to avoid some problems you're probably having.

Interesting post Mark,

I have also always felt that the bi-directional link is simply a pipe dream.

I also agree with the point about only exporting the model once.

But the interesting part is I have always decided that the one 'useful' / time saving export would be at tender / preliminary stage. Where the analytical model will be fairly well constructued to get an accurate cost, and it is very quick to 'knock up' a set of tender documents from the Fastrak export.

I then go on and start from scratch at detailed design. Building a whole new Revit model, while the engineer 'tweaks' his tender model.

Your case above however, could lead to a second step in the process i use, where the detailed model is then constructed in Revit and exported into Fastrak once, for the engineers use.

Good concept.

Thanks

Hi Mark

I've been alpha and beta testing Revit autocad navisworks etc for a few years now and it does get you into the swing of things before you actual get your hands on the official software and also the beta forums are very useful as they highlight all the bugs the testers are finding so will give you a heads up.

This year I was fortunate to be invited to AutoDesk AEC-BIM HQ in Waltham MA for the Revit gunslinger event which was amazing and lots of exciting things come up in 2012 and beyond.

Happy testing
